We had a great state weekend! Thank you to everyone who attended. Deidre and I set up on Thursday night and we had an interesting time learning about the house's speaker system and wireless internet, but we figured it out! It was great to be back at the house and have the chance to visit with Mom MiMi and some of the girls. Friday we both ended up getting to the house a little early to set up. We had some blue baloons for the chairs to represent the make you smile campaign, We had handouts and candy for each table. We also set up a table to collect purses for the Peace at Home Women's shelter as part of a new National KD Confidence Coalition Projet. We ended up donating over 45 purses to the shelter and were able to give a donation to the shelter in the name of Chanceler Gearheart for speaking to us that night. We even were able to get Chick Fila Delivered for everyone - yum! Funny story - imagine Deidre and I setting up for the weekend, getting everything cleaned, etc, etc....now remember Big Little? Did any of you use the string? That's right...we picked the same night as Big little for our Alum event...ahh! 5pm rolls around and here come the girls - string everywhere. Deidre and I are trying to finish setting up stepping over the string, getting chairs stuck in the string, getting ourselves stuck in the string, wondering how much of the string was still going to be there when the alums showed up, etc. We laughed ( and ate a lot of candy corns) the whole time. Than we peek out in the front yard - the girls are having a white out PAINT event! girls and paint everywhere - oh my...It was so funny becuase Jennifer Adkins, AShley Dillard, Jesi Riley, Kama Marsh, and Darcy Jackson all showed up early to all of that! We definatley got a kick out of it for sure. Brought back many memories! We had a tailgate on Saturday and the turnout was the best of any event our Associate has seen. So many families showed up to cheer on the hogs. Sunday we had the house open for tours and Mom MiMi stories. What a great weekend. Thank you for your support and we look forward to another one in 2 years!

Happy Friday Everyone!!
Happy Friday Everyone! We just wanted to let you know that as we speak a mailing is going out to everyone (unless you have already sent in a membership form requesting emails).
A Few Highlights:March 7th (12p.m.-6p.m.) -We are teaming up with White House Black Market at the Promenade in Rogers for an all day shopping event! KD's as well as family and friends are welcome to stop by and shop for some Spring clothes, and 10% of the profits will be donated to the Children's Safety Center in Springdale, AR. This will last all day, but we will be there serving refreshments and appetizers from 2-3:30. FYI - The Central Arkansas AA is hosting the same event in Little Rock on the same day so we thought it would be neat if we could coordinate to host an event here in NWA and make it a statewide Shamrock event!Events at the House:The girls in house have extended an invitation to their annual Spaghetti Dinner. It will take place March 10 from 5-8 and costs $5. Along with the Spaghetti dinner the KD's will be hosting The Shamrock Talent Show on March 17. It will take place at 6 p.m. in the U of A Union Ballroom.Happy Hour:There was also a demand for some sort of KD Happy Hour. Our hope was that we would have a set day, time, and place for anyone who was able to make each month. It is hard to coordinate a time that works for everyone but right now it is looking like it will be taking place the last Thursday of each month from 6:30-8:30 at the Wine Cellar in Fayetteville (off of Spring St.).
We will continue to send out news and reminders through email! Don't forget to check out our group on Facebook!
Hope everyone has a great weekend and don't forget to come out March 7 for the shopping event (and bring your family and friends!)

Haiti Earthquake
Kappa Delta has long been known for its commitment to helping those less fortunate, so on the heels of the devastating earthquake in Haiti, it comes as no surprise that members are asking, “What can I do to help?” At this time, Kappa Delta encourages members to support those immediate-relief organizations that are currently operating in Haiti to provide medical care, food, water and housing. The online Network for Good, www.networkforgood.org, offers links for individuals to make donations to a variety of charitable organizations, including the American Red Cross, CARE, Doctors Without Borders, Partners in Health, UNICEF and more.
After other recent natural disasters, KDs have rallied to support the KiDs Need to be Kids effort to provide toys, books and games for the youngest victims of these disasters. While the sorority believes strongly in this program, we also recognize the more urgent needs faced by Haiti’s citizens. The sorority will consider the need for the KiDs Need to be Kids campaign once health care and living conditions improve in Haiti; until then, Kappa Deltas are encouraged to support the relief efforts of their choice.

The First Alumni Event of 2010!
We are brainstorming other event ideas and will hopefully have a variety in different locations around the NWA area, as well as some daytime and evening events. We thought pizza would be a nice casual way to kick off the new year!
We have received feedback from many and really appreciate everyone's input, keep it coming if you have any other ideas. Also some of our contact information is a little out of date for some alums. If you know any alums that do not receive these emails and would be interested in coming pass along the invite! As mentioned before we will hopefully have a mailing sent out in the very near future, so keep your eyes open for that.
We are excited to get things going and look forward to seeing everyone soon!
